Healthy & Achievable Resolutions for 2013

30 Minutes a Day

Aim for 30 minutes of exercise a day! Start out slow. Try walking around your neighborhood for 10 minutes three times a day. Do things you enjoy! Dancing, wii fit, or playing with the kids are fun and easy ways to scorch calories without even realizing it. Sign up for yoga or spin classes with a buddy.

Cut the Calories

Swap out snacking on chips and cookies with fruits and veggies. Make it something you enjoy by making a salad or kabob out of your favorites! Mix in seasonable produce to add some new and exciting flavors.

Drink Water

Thirsty? Drink more water! Cut the sugary sodas and energy drinks. Instead, aim for drinking 8 cups of water a day. Want to spice it up?  Flavor your water with lemon, berries, or mint.

Control Your Portions

Easiest way to do this? Downsize your dishes. Using smaller plates and bowls will make it easier to avoid overeating.

Slash the Salt

First step, remove the saltshaker from the table. Out of sight, out of mind! Also try cutting the amount of salt that recipes call for in half. You can easily swap out the salt for various herbs and spices that will double the flavor! Not sure what to use? Check out this awesome site for tons of ideas.

Catch Some ZZZ’s

Want to feel your best? Get enough sleep! Leave your worries at the door when you get home from work and avoid doing household chores late at night. By getting enough sleep you will look and feel your very best.

Wear Sunscreen

Even when it’s not 110 degrees outside. Wearing sunscreen will protect your skin from sunspots, developing wrinkles before their time, and skin cancer.

Be Positive

Wake up with a smile on your face, count your blessings, and live every day to the fullest. Being happy and thankful will keep you healthy year-round.
