The month of March is National Nutrition Month, which is a national nutrition education campaign sponsored by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. In honor of National Nutrition Month we will be posting quick tips for eating right to easily incorporate into your busy routine.
- Color your plate with fruits and veggies! Eat a variety of vegetables, especially dark-green, red and orange vegetables plus beans and peas. Fresh, frozen and canned vegetables all count. Choose “reduced sodium” or “no-salt-added” canned vegetables.
- Add fruit to meals and snacks. Buy fruits that are dried, frozen or canned in water or 100% juice, as well as fresh fruits.
- Aim for including a variety of fruits and veggies and different colored produce contains different sets of vitamins and minerals. The more color, the more nutrients your body is receiving!
